A Royal Visit

London Youth Charity based at Woodrow High House recently invited our Quantity Surveyor, Brian Harris, to assist on HRH, the Duke of Edinburgh’s tour of the restoration works a few months back.

Brian explained the various procedures that we have been involved in and currently undertaking, in this preservation project.

We first started working for the London Youth Charity based at Woodrow High House a few years back when the building required some major refurbishment.

This project is by far the largest and has involved the interior of all the windows and full external maintenance which includes complete redecoration. Using both our renovating and decorating teams we are helping to keep this historic building in the elegance that it deserves.

Once home to the family of Oliver Cromwell, Woodrow is a 17th century manor house and quite extraordinary space. In 21st century Britain, when young people are ever-more immersed in celebrity and shopping, we think Woodrow offers something different: a home that’s 350 years old and bristling with history – with character and corners that stay in the memory long into adulthood, ABK Ltd are very proud to have been involved with the restoration works.

ABK would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Prince William and Kate with their new baby boy, we have the perfect selection of Farrow & Ball paints within our residential decoration department to paint the new room in Kensington Palace should they so wish!

The re-decoration of our Abingdon branch had to fulfil all of our criteria – it has to be managed closely, it had to be on time and it had to be of the highest quality, ABK worked to our fixed time schedule and guided us through the decision making process, their sound advice was invaluable.
