Every little helps…

Chris half marathonChris Reich, a volunteer member of the Paws and Claws fundraising group, ran the Wycombe Half Marathon for the third year in a row for the South Bucks RSPCA.

Sponsored by ABK, the Wycombe based painting and decorating company and the MiCE Merchandise Company a supplier of advertising gifts who are also based in High Wycombe, Chris raised a magnificent £520 on behalf of the local charity.

Chris managed a very creditable time of 1hr 48minutes, a little slower than previous years because of the much warmer weather. “It was tougher this year.” Chris commented “I find it easier when the weather is cooler! But I did enjoy the run and when it is for such a good cause you don’t mind the discomfort and when you pick up your medal you do get a real sense of achievement!”
Chris is already planning to run again next year and looking for others to join him to help raise much needed funds.

It’s not widely known that all local branches of the RSPCA are self funding and they have to raise their own monies in order to carry out their work of caring for and re-homing hundreds of abandoned and poorly treated animals. So every penny counts and the branch is always looking for volunteers to help them in their work.

The re-decoration of our Abingdon branch had to fulfil all of our criteria – it has to be managed closely, it had to be on time and it had to be of the highest quality, ABK worked to our fixed time schedule and guided us through the decision making process, their sound advice was invaluable.
