A recently completed external decorating project

Forest House Vets – Windsor

“We are very happy with the job that has been done and thank you to your decorators for their meticulous work, we have found you provided a very thorough and professional service all round and the building is looking lovely”

This was the great response from the Practice Manager after we finally got to carry out their external decorating.  Originally booked in April 2020 and then September 2020 both occasions had to be cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  Finally, we completed in June this year after some delays due to the weather.

We are very happy with the results, please see our images on the slider above or click on the thumb nails to see before and after pictures.

A brief outline of the work we carried out:

* Set up and used all our own access equipment including our Cherry Picker.

* A fungicidal wash was then applied over the existing walls and rinsed.

* Preparation to woodwork, cutting back rotten timber & applying a resin product for longevity.

* Use of fillers and rubbing back and priming ready for painting.

* Application of Dulux Weathershield paint.

The actual paints used on this project were all from the Dulux Weathershield range and included:  Masonry Smooth, Exterior Undercoat and Exterior Gloss for more info click Dulux Weathershield Range and Colours

Forest House Vets have branches in Ascot, Egham and Windsor, we decorated the Windsor branch.  For more info click Forest House Vets

We have gone electric! With a new Tesla

So why a brand new Tesla?

Its amazing range, cheap to run and has business benefits too!

Apart from looking good, on a single full battery charge the range will allow us to have a full day visiting our sites and for quoting new projects. Or for our workers to commute into London and back daily which means we only use a van once to drive into London to drop off equipment. By reducing pollution and cleaner air for everyone we have committed our bit to help the environment.

The financial savings are great too, our accountant has one and it was he who recommended this car, at just around £20.00 more a month on our electric bill, this far outweighs petrol or diesel costs, also no congestion or emission charges when we are working in London.  There is a government grant available and tax benefits when buying a Tesla through a business.

If you are interested in buying a new Tesla please do speak to us we have already done the research, plus you can use our referral code for us both to get 1000 miles of free charge when using the Tesla Superchargers, which are now widely available near the motorways – your Tesla will tell you where they are!   The link to our referral code is GB/referral/roy63515

Over 100 properties completed at Waddesdon

With over 100 properties now completed at Waddesdon…

…we are working on many more!

For well over 8 years we have been chosen by the Waddesdon estate to carry out refurbishment work on properties for the Rothschild Foundation in and around the stunning estate.  Work includes carpentry and flooring but on all the properties, our highly skilled painters and decorators have done an amazing job to repair and apply the products to conserve the buildings and their heritage.

View some of the pictures and read more here

We continue to work on properties within the Waddesdon Estate and also at their Offices and Apartments in Central London.

With the Estate’s portfolio of amazing historical buildings including residential homes in the village, farmhouses, the Village Hall and The Five Arrows Hotel that we have worked on, it is well worth a visit.

The manor house on the estate, Waddesdon Manor, was originally bought in 1874 and has been owned by the same family since, who have subsequently invested in further properties in the area to help conserve the heritage for future generations. This lovely country estate is open to the public and runs many family events throughout the year and has its own woodlands and parklands.

A Fantastic Five Star Review

Full Refurbishment Project Review

We carried out a full refurbishment project to this beautiful property in Chalfont St Giles. The work included coving, carpentry, electrics, security and painting and decorating.

Google 5* Review

Client:  Nick Riddle  Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value “Fantastic service from Roy and the ABK team. We engaged them originally to redecorate the interior of our house but the scope of the project evolved considerably as it went on. The team were responsive, creative and accommodating throughout with spotless attention to detail. We were kept very well informed at all stages and pricing for incremental work was done in a very transparent, fair manner. Andy, who was with the project from start to finish, did a fabulous job and came up with some excellent ideas and solutions for various finishing touches. Roy is a real pleasure to deal with, nothing is ever too much trouble and the project management was flawless. Professional friendly team who are real masters of their business. We would highly recommend them and will definitely be using ABK again.”

Waddesdon Woodwork Restoration – Case Study

Waddesdon External Decorations

External decorations to a beautiful historic property in Waddesdon. Upon inspection of the property, the team discovered heavy woodwork degradation to various areas. Our team worked diligently with the client to put a plan in place and restore the property.

Project Requirements

Restoration to external Woodwork of the property throughout various areas of the building to help ensure longevity of the wood and seal areas to help protect against water leaks.

Solution Implemented

We removed the rotten wood and then moulded a resin into these areas. Then prepared the rest of the woodwork and painted in a long-lasting protective paint in the heritage colour required.

Challenges Overcome

This was high level work and we used our access equipment in a safe manner to reach the areas. See our building section for a full range of trades for any refurbishment work https://www.abkltd.co.uk/more-than-painting/

Cobstone Windmill Case Study

External Decorations to a Windmill – Case Study

Overlooking the hamlet of Turville Heath and used substantially in the filming of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Project Requirements

External painting of the complete Cobstone windmill in Ibstone including the top of the windmill dome and the sails.

Solution Implemented

We used a brilliant white external ICI Dulux Weathershield masonry paint on the middle part of the windmill and black ICI Dulux Weathershield masonry paint on the bottom and dome parts. For the sails we used the ICI Dulux Weathershield gloss system, we also used this on the door and windows.

Challenges Overcome

The height and angle that we needed to reach the top of the windmill dome and sails was quite a challenge especially as the ground around it was uneven, however, by safely levelling our large 21M cherry picker by careful leg height adjustment we successfully managed to complete the work in the time frame requested.

Results

The painting of this famous windmill made it stand out even more over the hamlet of Turville Heath.  On this page, you will find some imagery relating to works completed on the project.
